Restoring Honor Rally 8/;28

I am going to try very hard to recall all of the miracles, all of the wonderful sights, sounds, experiences and feelings that I had/felt on August 28, 2010 at Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor Rally on the mall at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial.  The first thing I want everyone who was not there to know; the Holy Spirit was with us so strongly that I heard some say the goosebumps, the hair on their neck, the electricity in the air was so strong it was palpable!

For me,  the magic and miracles started before we even boarded the bus for the trip.  I started the effort to fill a 56 seat bus only 3 weeks before 8/28.  Most of those going from our San Antonio Tea Party already had their flight tickets, or were planning to drive.  I was able to muster 34 travelers, which left me with a balance of just over $5,000.  My precious husband, a really good man, ponied up the balance.  God Bless him!

One couple who had planned to go had to cancel at the last minute, but he told me he wanted to donate their tickets, and for me to find "deserving" folks to fill his seats.  Within 20 minutes, I received a call from a lady in Corpus Christi.  She told me her husband had done "all the things Glenn said to do" to get ready for 8/28, i.e. fasting, praying on his knees in front & with of their 4 home schooled children, etc.  That did it for me!  Anyone who has read Dagney's Rant knows that I'm a sucker for home schoolers!  I look at them as the saviors of our country!  I told her, just get a hotel, the bus is paid for!  I then called the gentleman who had donated the seats.  I related the call, and he told me I'd made his day.  See, I told you there were miracles before we left!

Our bus drove straight through, with 3 different drivers.  It took us 36 hours, which I thought was awfully long until this event:  On the way to DC, we stopped to refuel near Little Rock, AR, and saw a group of other travelers stretching their legs.  We learned that they were on their way to DC as well, and had in fact begun in (are you ready for this?) the very blue city of SEATTLE on Monday!  [We left on Thursday]  They had been stopping along the way to pick up passengers!  What intrepid travelers!  WOW!

The administration/DC officials, someone, tried everything they could do to stop us, or slow us down.  For no apparent reason there were lane closures leading into DC on Friday. [Miraculously, they were back open on Sunday morning:  Good riddance?]  On Saturday morning, the metro that normally starts running at 5AM, did not open until 7!  Hmmm, go figure!  We've heard since then that some buses were unable to deliver their passengers in time for the event due to high traffic volume.  With only one incoming lane opened?  Go figure!

Our bus arrived in DC around 8pm on Friday night.  We were exhausted, but enthusiastic & happy to have arrived safely.  We were dropped off at the Embassy Suites in Old Town Alexandria where most of the hotel guests were Texans.  When we were in the breakfast cafe the following morning, I observed a family with 3 kids.  Mom had made T-shirts for the family.  One child's T-shirt had "Hope" on the back of the shirt, another had "Faith", and the third had "Charity".  Dad's had "Truth", and mom's had an American flag.  They were otherwise identical.  I remarked to her, "What a clever mom, you are!"  She replied, "I had to have a way to keep us together in this crowd!"  Glenn's group had set up "Family Relocation Centers" all over the grounds.  They covered all the bases.

When our little group of four (from our bus) arrived at the mall the next day, at around 7:30 am, we walked through a sea of humanity who had all ready arrived.  I think the "87,000" count from ABC or one of those BS channels must have been counted at 5am, because there were more than that when we arrived.  Our bus travelers were scattered in different accommodations, and we made no attempt to meet together because Glenn really wanted everyone to "mingle".  It was really great that we didn't because on the ride home everyone had their own stories to share; of who they met, what states they'd met friends from, etc.  As crowded as it was, I never heard one grouchy voice, one upset participant, only smiles, nods of friendliness, expressions of how awesome it all was!

Just as the show was to start, much of the crowd witnessed what I like to call "God's Fly-Over".

Everyone who saw it applauded!  Yes, that is a gaggle of geese that formed up at the Washington Monument, and the perfect "V" formation flew over the Reflecting Pool to the Lincoln Memorial just seconds before the beginning of the program!  It was awesome.  Sure was glad I brought tissues!  Thank you, Abba, for being with us, and giving us Your Approval!

This photo was taken backstage, and as I told my fellow Ex-Streamists on GB's Insider, "There's nothing more beautiful than a beautiful woman in prayer!"

Sarah Palin was a speaker for all the mom's with children serving in the military, not as a politician.  She introduced 3 wounded warriors, including Marcus Luttrell who is a personal hero of mine.

Before the program began, we had the chance to visit with those around us; 3 men from New Jersey with whom we shared a cheer for Chris Christy .  The lady next to us was from Ohio, and there was a family, including grandparents from Massachusetts nearby.  As the program progressed, a lady nearby feinted from heat & dehydration.  Within seconds, nearby participants gathered around her with umbrellas to shade her, with water to cool her off.  One of our group is a nurse and pitched into help.  Police showed up, but they could not summon an ambulance because there literally was nowhere for the crowd to move to in order for the ambulance to come get her.  They asked if anyone had a wheelchair.  An old man behind me gave his wheelchair up to take her to the ambulance.  Another participant offered to go with them so he could return the chair.  It was all amazing!  The same phenomenon happened all day.  Strangers hold up ropes for someone to go under to get to seating, strangers picking up trash that wasn't theirs, I could go on and on!

Want to know more about the crowd Glenn attracted ?    Here's a taste;

"One would not be able to find a more polite crowd at a politicalconvention, certainly not at a professional sporting event, probably noteven at an opera. In fact, judging by the behavior of the attendeesfollowing the event, you'd have a tough time finding churches in whichpeople display more patience as others make their way to the exits.

Thisarmy of well-mannered folks that marched into Washington seemedcomprised mainly of people who had once marched in the U.S. Army orother military branch, or at least had a family member who had. Perhapsthat's not surprising, given that the event was a fund-raiser for theSpecial Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides scholarships tothe children of elite troops killed in the performance of their duty. The day was largely devoted to expressions of gratitude for thesacrifices of U.S. soldiers, for great men of American history like theRev. Martin Luther King Jr., and for God.

Butit didn't end there. Dave Roever, a Vietnam veteran, offered a closingprayer in which he thanked the Lord for the president and for theCongress. Despite the unpopularity of the latter two, no booing orcatcalls could be heard."

Need I say more?  If you were there, please add your comments as to your experiences and share with the readers.  If you were not there, your prayers for us were heard, felt, and we were grateful for receiving, and we know you were there in spirit.

    Thanks for sharing this!

I heard a man named Brannon Howse say that this was all humanistic garbage and that this rally had paved the way for a one-world religion. I wasn't there, but I heard Glen's version of it, and I thought the point was to bring morality back to America- it wasn't supposed to be about Religion, per say. Anyway, this guy was all fired up and has written a report on his website- worldview weekend if you want to look it up. I think what he was saying about the event was doing more harm than good. I am very glad I got to read about your experience. Thanks for sharing.

Jenn, there was absolutely NOTHING "humanistic" about the event! It was all about reminding America that our country was based on God, and that we Americans need to get BACK to God! He had 240 pastors, rabbis, imams, etc. on stage with him, and the is the only thing I think the other blogger could have been referring to, but absolutely nothing remotely "humanist"! It just shows me how badly Glenn is scaring the left, but more importantly as Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, this is a war of spiritual proportions;  "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood....".  And BTW, I am Anglican Catholic, not Mormon as Glenn is.

You made it! Glad you could come up for it. Mostly tho I'm glad everything turned out well for you and that the weather was nice etc

Unfortunately, even though I live in the area I couldn't be there due to other commitments. No big deal though as I've been to so many other rallies uptown over the past few years.

I've been to conservative rallies, and also to leftie ones too just to check them out. Like you I saw that the conservative ones were family affairs where people were polite and nice. The lefties were vulgar people who acted like idiots. What a contrast.

Tom, I'm sad we were not able to meet personally, since we've been friends for years! It was an amazing day I will take with me to my dying day!
