White Roof, Anyone?
"He said lightening roofs and roads in urban environments would offset the global warming effects of all the cars in the world for 11 years.
"If you look at all the buildings and if you make the roofs white and if you make the pavement more of a concrete type of colour rather than a black type of colour and if you do that uniformally, that would be the equivalent of... reducing the carbon emissions due to all the cars in the world by 11 years – just taking them off the road for 11 years," he said."
Now really, people, do you really want to paint your roof white? I just have to remind myself the left doesn't know that God is in charge.

How long will it take for one of the lib senators or reps to complain that the glare of a white highway or runway hurts their eyes?

Where will this lunacy end? Wake up America and smell the paint thinner.
Let's see how the list currently looks on running our lives:
1. Paint your roof white
2. No SUVs, trucks, gas guzzling RVs
3. No sugary drinks
4. No BBQs (makes people fat) and according to a looney on t.v. the other day obesity even has an effect on swine flu!
5. No secret ballot to form a union
6. No choice in health care - government knows best
7. D.C. press corps given press releases - we don't want any uncomfortable questions asked of the Administration
8. ACORN is suspiciously related directly to Citizens Consulting (donations to Obama)
9. Investors forced to give up General Motors to form Government Motors - a gift to the UAW.
Anyone old enough out there to remember Pravda? It was the Soviet newspaper - it meant "Truth", but it was the regime's truth. I feel like I am living in a Pravda world with the current U.S. media and government.

I have no problem with this. More reflective surfaces will mean less absorption of heat and if it's my house, it means a cooler house. The thing is, I've already done this, so I can't contribute anymore to cooling the planet.

Heavens. This reminds me of his recommendation that we all check our tires to be sure they're properly inflated.
I mean yes, I get the point about white roofs reducing the need for A/C and proper tire pressure for maximum gas mileage.
But one, this is nanny-state politics, and two it's tinkering at the edges.
If Obama really wants energy efficiency he'd open Yucca Mountain for nuclear waste storage and build nuclear plants. But then he'd have to take on the envirocrazies and he's not about to do that.

You act like they'r emaking you do it. it is a suggestion not mandated. I find it funny that you would complaina bout suggestions to leading a healthy and less environmentally hazardous. I could see if they were telling you to poo in buckets and recycle it and even that would just be a suggestion.

I'm surprised you would waste your time to complain.

I'm surprised that you're surprised that TC responded to your ridiculous criticism.

I suppose everything is worth considering. But, honestly, this is like something created to distract from the real issue. If more attention was focused on real solutions we'd all be able to avoid reading these crazy, lame announcements.
