My Day With The Senate

The call went out, and I answered.  "Can you come and testify to the Senate?", well, yes...hubby wanted to go to the beach, but I told him no, this is the Voter ID bill, and I want to testify!  So I was up at 4:00 a.m. to be at the State House at 6:45!   Everywhere I looked there were people like me, that is, dressed in RED!  We stood in line with other folks who were willing to testify why we needed a voter ID law.  You can gather the measure of my frustration by listening to others who waited the TWELVE HOURS with me (I'm actually in the film...can you find me?)!  We filled the gallery with red.  And as the Democrats brought up every talking point you've ever heard from the left on how voter ID would "disenfranchise" their voter base, who according to the Texas Democrat Senators, are too stupid to get a photo ID.  The Donks asked the author of the bill (Troy Duncan, I believe) the same identical questions over and over and over and over!!!  We were supposed to be quiet in the gallery, but you could hear the groans every time the repeat questions surfaced!  Frustrating does not begin to explain our feelings!  We were supposed to start testimony at 1pm, but even the "expert" testimonies did not begin until 6:00 p.m.!  Clearly, the Dems did not want all those folks dressed in red to testify.  There actually was a small cadre who "want every vote to count" regardless if they were legal or not!

While our issues were to protect our ballots, our votes from fraud, and over 70% of all Texans want voter ID required, they insisted their voters would be "disenfranchised" over and over.  In the 2008 Republican primaries, the question of voter ID required was on our ballot, and 93.9% of Republicans voted for it!  Voter fraud is very difficult to detect, bring charges, and prove under current laws.  Democrats insist Voter ID requirements would "dissuade voters from going to the polls.  Yet in November 2007 the University of Missouri compared the 2006 elections in Indiana (the state with the most stringent voter ID law) and learned that voter turn out actually increased by 2%!

We all know what ACORN does; drag/pay/ voters to vote, register voters who are DEAD, who have moved, etc.  I know too well how voter fraud happens.  I lived in New Mexico, where I've heard people brag that they'd voted 5 times, in 5 different counties!  I tried to show my voter ID once, the poll worker held up his arms, crossed a la "to keep Dracula at bay", and exclaimed loudly "I don't need to see that!".  I felt like I should be ashamed for trying to show it!  In 2000, they "forgot" to program the voting machines in Bernallilo Co. (Albuquerque) to read straight party tickets, and mostly GOP voters vote straight tickets!  The same year, several boxes of ballots were found in 1)trash bins 2)Poll judge's car (Democrat poll judge) 3) and assorted other "questionable" places!  A friend who graduated from UNM was at her alma mater on election day 2008, and overheard several young people from THE NETHERLANDS, who were proclaiming for all to hear (its safe on campus) that they'd come to America to vote for BO!

Is it any wonder why the Democrats hate the idea of stopping voter fraud?  How else could they stay in office?

    Dagney,
Your comments are spot on! What about the jurisdictions where the number of votes equaled MORE THAN the number of registered voters??

BTW, do you have any influence with Michelle Malkin? I have tried to contact her so that I can register on her blog, but have not received any replies. Can you help? Thanks and keep up the good work!

Mike, Michelle opens her blog to new commenters very seldom, and when she does you have to register quickly. I post often on her blog, and don't post as much here as I should because I am able to rant there! Silly, I know, but the reason I am online at all is to VENT, RANT, and express my conservative values.
