Open Letter to Michael Steele
Our local San Antonio, TX SMIA group sent a letter we all signed to the Republican officials in Texas to support your candidacy for RNC Chair. They were firmly supporting Ken Blackwell. Many of us were personally torn between the two of you, but because we'd heard yhou on Dr. Bill's show, we became convinced you were the better choice. So sorry to say I am regretting that decision. Your recent "performance" on CNN redefined you in my estimation.
Our group, all die-hard conservatives, argued with our Texas GOP to get you elected over their favorite, Ken Blackstone, because we saw in you someone who would be more articulate, one who could go before the media and tell them who we are; to articulate the conservative viewpoint. We thought (mistakenly) that you would be a better spokesperson for us, due to your on-air experience with Dr. Bennett.
Boy, were we wrong! Instead you called Rush Limbaugh "incendiary". Excuse me?
We expected you to verbalize our values the way Rush Limbaugh verbalizes it. Instead you denigrated him. In doing so, you denigrated US! I cannot tell you how you have let us down. Remember how Rush supported you? I am so disappointed in you!
As RNC chair, you have hampered RNC's ability to raise funds from your conservative base. It will be a very long time before I support the RNC.
My suggestion is that you hire Ken Blackwell to do your job to accomplish the part of your job you are NOt DOING. The part that will refurbish the primary election system so that Democraps and so-called independents from dictating who our candidates will be, and then practice your rehetoric to make you sound like a bonafide Conservative!

I am so upset over this Michael Steele thing I can't even talk about it clearly. You did a much better job than I did. Thank you!

Wow, DT, strong words ... I agree with you in many ways; however, I am more concerned about Michael Steele's support for abortions than I am about a single misapplied word ... maybe it is just that I want to believe that Michael's choice of words was wrong ... I just don't believe that he really meant to say that Rush is incendiary. Anyway ... moot point, so many news cycles away ... I am concerned about his support of abortions. That being said, I think that we have to work with what we have ... he is articulate, he is a good spokesperson for the conservative principles of free markets, free men and free labor. And, we have the hope of his being able to bring the black community to conservatism. That would be the main reason I would support him and promote him .. very selfish on my part, but we have to use whatever peaceful means we have at our disposal to bring more people into our naturally superior conservative world view. Just my thoughts. Love, J

I confronted Michael on his "abortion stance" on Dr. Bill's show, and I am satisfied that he answered me in a convincing manner. He was adopted, his teen mom chose NOT to abort him. He is staunchly pro-life. He says the GQ comments were taken out of context, and I believe him.
