More Good News Than Bad

A couple of stories caught my eye today.  One of them is very good and the other is awful.  The one that is good, you have to read halfway through the story to find the really good part;

"About 54 percent of voters among those polled say it's time for someone else to represent them in Congress. About 35 percent say Murtha deserves to be re-elected.

"The most important variable here is that a decisive majority say it's time for a new person," said Jim Lee, president of Susquehanna Polling and Research. He attributed some of the unhappiness with Murtha to the congressman's recent comments."

William Russell has out-raised Murtha 3:1, so I find it interesting...no, upsetting that the woman who said she is a former marine and is still voting for Murtha is so ill-informed!

"Yet, poll participant Melissa Stoltz, 38, of Johnstown said she is backing Murtha because she likes his political views.  [Okay, so she's a pro-choice liberal]

"He has the experience, and he is a former Marine. I was a Marine," said Stoltz, a caseworker. "Murtha's done a good job. I think he's really stuck up for your basic, every-run-of-the-day, normal person."

Melissa, how would you feel if you or your son were one of the Marines accused...but now exonerated, who fought in Haditha...you know, the ones Murtha accused of heinous crimes?

The other story that I found disturbing, the one that may have positive effects for the McCain-Palin ticket, however regrettably, is this one

"Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said."

If McCain is elected, as I believe his ticket will be, thanks to Sarah, I pray that this will not be the way Obama's supporters will react, be they robbers or other supporters, though it has been predicted that they will react with violence.  As Christians, I guess we can take some comfort in 1 Peter's reassurance to Christians who are punished for their belief in Jesus Christ.
