And Further, Mr. McCain...

Fountainhead has another voice to add to the last post;  [yep, she sent it to him!]

Senator McCain,

Perhaps it's just a rumor, but there is so much talk of this today that I can't ignore it.  If you are seriously considering a pro-abortion running mate, this is further evidence of your alienating the constituents you purportedly represent, or would be representing as President of the United States.

If you aim to gain liberal voters with this move, I'm sure you realize your net gain might well be naught, because you'll lose conservative voters for whom this represents a "last straw."

If you believe that conservative voters will still vote the "lesser of two evils," then consider that, by continuing to close the gap between Liberal and Conservative, we conservatives are finding little reason to distinguish between you and the other guy.

If you select one who is the antithesis of what many in this party stand for, then you will leave us with little reason to trust the other conservative representations you've made (such as appointments of conservative Supreme Court judges, and no tax increases).

True conservatives in this country continue to be amazed, frustrated, furious, disappointed (pick any non-flattering emotion) at how our so-called conservative representatives in Congress time and again appear to kow-tow to the left in the name of the almighty compromise which isn't really compromise if both sides do not gain something to their favor.

Our country has a tradition of two distinctly different parties that represent distinct positions.  These differences appear to be diminishing each year — on Capital Hill, that is, but NOT amongst the citizens of this country.  If Congress does not represent those distinct positions, then there is no longer a need for the two parties, is there?

I call on you, Senator McCain, to remember the conservative citizens you represent.

You GO, Girlfriend!

Deleted due to the commenter's request to DagneyT.  Original commenter  saw Mr. McCain's appearance with the Rev. Rick Warren, and was so impressed, she asked me to remove it.  I was happy to comply.

As I listened to the Meet the Candidate interview of Sen. John McCain last night on Rev. Rick Warren's excellent forum, I sincerely felt as though Sen. McCain was speaking from his heart to my heart.

The differences between barrack obama's responses and Sen. McCain's responses were starkly informative and deliciously revealing. One a Socialist to His Deepest Core and the other A Man of The People, flawed but real. I still do not agree with Sen. McCain on many issues and his insistence upon being a rebel instead of being a conservative is maddening, but I finished listening to him last night with a new found respect.

I had previously swore that if Sen. McCain would give me a sense of hope for the future, I would be a most vocal advocate for his candidacy and I mean to live up to my word. So, I wrote a second letter to the editor after rescinding my first letter written out of total frustration. My Second editorial I have copied below. It follows my title:

AND THEN THERE WAS HOPE: A few months ago, my decision to put a John McCain For President bumper sticker on my vehicle was a decision made in advance of my solid support for his candidacy.

At the time, did I hope that because I displayed the stickers my support would somehow magically appear? Did I hope that I could will Sen. McCain to believe as I do on the issues of the day, just because of those stickers? Probably a little bit of both.

But then, last night, on the road to the White House, Sen. McCain stood up and with a clear, strong and articulate voice he completely changed the landscape and gave me real hope. He was principled, passionate, witty and yet kind. He spoke from the heart about his strengths, his weaknesses, his vision and his resolve.

He spoke unscripted to all Americans about hope ... hope for lessons learned from the past, hope for reigned in government spending, hope for keeping our hard earned dollars. He spoke about the value of wealth and wealth creation and he spoke about hope for a world free from tyrants and fanatics; a world filled with charity for those less fortunate. He spoke of his hope for America the Beautiful.

And now, as I had hoped, my support has caught up with my proudly displayed stickers!

    Thank you Sen. McCain
