Because He's Black?
I heard a caller from Pennsylvania tell Hannity today that she had a lot of friends who were normally rational people say they were going to vote for Barack Obama because he was black. HUH? You're kidding, right? Why? "It's time we had a black president." Apparently they've been watching too many early 24 DVD's! This lady wanted Sean to tell her how to combat this ridiculous reason to vote for someone.
For those of you who have friends or family members who are actually thinking this same thing, here's my advice. First of all, agree with them. It IS about time we had a black president. Then remind them what Dr. Martin Luther King said about judging "contact of their character, not the color of their skin". [The Republican MLK is probably spinning in his grave!] Then tell them if it were someone like Michael Steele, Ken Blackwell, or J. C. Watts, you would absolutely agree! But a Marxist, someone to the left of Nasty Pelosi who would vote against a law to demand that a baby who survived a late-term abortion could not be allowed to die neglected, I don't think so!
I would have loved our first black presidential candidate to be the kind of men of character listed above, but this is one man, black or white, America cannot afford. Armed with facts, anyone with all of their faculties, can change their mind. Give them the facts.

You didn't know this? Why else would a very junior Senator get the nomination? He ain't that charismatic. Same as Hillary, if she hadn't been Bill,s doormat...

Among black voters, I knew this, but I didn't think it was so prevalent among white voters. I should have, considering what Thomas Sowell has said about "white guilt", but I decided that some defense was needed. Hope I was able to pass along a plausible defense.

I don't understand the logic behind the comment that America needs a black person to become President. Other than a few isolated cases (Thomas Sowell, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey to name a few ... I'm sure that there are many more), the black community in total has not exhibited great leadership abilities. In fact, they have helped to destroy the inner city neighborhoods across this country, which were once beautiful, peaceful, clean and safe places where people could leave their doors open and kids could play in the streets without worry of being shot to death.
Whatever it is that is driving this desire to elect a man into the highest ranking position in the free world based upon the fact that his skin is black has got to be examined more critically. In fact voters in this country should examine their criteria for having voted into office some of the white men who have become President in this past century. We can no longer accept charm, charisma, and good speech reading skills as qualifications to lead the free world.
We need a man with a sound understanding of U. S. constitutional principles, we need a man with a solid understanding of how the economies of supply and demand work, we need a man who can eliminate, yes I said eliminate the reams of regulations that are choking our ability to compete in an increasingly competitive world, we need a man with real world experience.
And yes, I used the word "man" deliberately. This world is too full of dangerous people who have little respect and oft times disdain for women for us to even think that a woman could become an effective President of the United States.

I have a demand for Barack Hussein Obama, and that is, show the American people your certified original birth certificate. I know this has been thrown about as just a right-wing ploy, but the saying no smoke without fire has meaning. An acquaintance told me that he has a friend in Kenya, and he believes without a doubt that BHO was NOT born in the U.S.
I am not a huge conspiracy theory kind of gal. I believe terrorists flew our planes into the World Trade Center and destroyed it because I saw it!
This is simple to fix - show us the birth certificate, the real one, not some website version, and put it to rest.

Voting for him (Obama) at all regardless of him being black or white is just unthinkable to me. I can't stand him.
The thought of him in office sends both fear and disgust through me.

also he's not 'black' he's mulatto I believe... just like my precious niece. He's not 'chocolate' as she'd say, he's cocoa. lol
