Colombian Armed forces rescued Ingrid Betancourt

Colombian Defense Minister, Juan Manuel Santos, has just confirmed that ex-presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, the three American citizens and 11 soldiers who were kidnapped by the FARC has just been rescued in a military operation.

The operation can be summarized in President Uribe's own words: "For us, the military path is just as valid as the path of negotiation"

Uribe's Pimp Hand is Stronger than ever!

Update:

The rescue operation denominated "Checkmate" was a great display of Colombian army intelligence quality and professionalism, just like out of one of The Unit episodes, the Army infiltrated the FARC and made the squadron commander "Cesar" believe that he was sending the kidnapped to "Alfonso Cano" (FARC highest rank member) in an helicopter that really belonged to the Colombian Army, once on air "Cesar" was neutralized by the soldiers and the hostages were taken to safety.

Colombian Defense minister Juan Manuel Santos, in his allocution sent an important message to the guerrillas:
"Once again, we call the new FARC commanders to give up your weapons and get back to the civilian life so you won't get yourselves killed or sacrifice your men".

This is the latest list of released hostages

Although they were rescued in an excellent military operation, it reminded me of Iran releasing the hostages as soon as President Reagan took power.
You know FARC members root for OBAMA, so having McCain in Colombian territory must have made them crap their pants!
