Love Is In The Air
What a lousy depressing day. I told Dr. Bennett this morning that if Juan McCainwas the nominee, I just couldn't vote for him. He gave me dire warnings (SCOTUS nominees), horrid possibilities (troops out of Iraq prematurely) and registered his general disapproval of me and others of the same persuasion. Well, tonight I'm having a moment...maybe just a quick moment as I watch the lovefest that is Guiliani's "I quit" speech while he endears himself to the apparent GOP nominee-to-be.
Hubby tells me, "Hey, that would be a great ticket, McCain-Guiliani, wouldn't it?" From the standpoint of abilities, and if Byron York was right on Dr. Bill's show this morning, "McCain is running for president because he wants to be Commander in Chief" is correct, then the idea of a ticket which includes a real live executive is an exciting idea. Or is it?
The problem I have with this particular "potential" ticket is Rudy's sanctuary city history, and Juan McCain's Hispanic Affairs Director, Juan Hernandez. and what it means to our country's security. (BTW, our country is America. It's not Mexico, not Canada, it is the United States of America!). Maybe they've be had a "Come to Jesus" moment when conservatives voiced their (our) opposition to the idea of open borders and they would actually build the fence.
The optimism I have is the hope that Juan McCain would turn over executive duties to Rudy...and the two of them would keep Clintonistas out of the White House, and keep Sharia at bay in America.
I remain unconvinced.

I'm with you, Dagney. McCain is great... only on foreign policy. We've got to win the war against the jihadists, so if he does get the nomination I'll hold my nose and vote for him.

I've had worse thoughts than that. I even thought of voting for Hillbilly. Why? I do not want the conservative party ruined, and that is exactly what a ticket like that would do. Even if Juan picks Huckabee. They are big government RINO's. They are NOT conservatives. HOW DARE THEY VIE FOR THAT TITLE.
Then I remember...all the effort we have put into helping our troops while they are out their doing for us what no one should have to do is too much for me to put my pride above them. I owe it to them to make sure that I choose the candidate that will make sure we (they) stay long enough to get the job and win the victory. It is my duty.
