A Remarkable Weekend

Since Fisher House left me, I've kind of dreaded weekends until this weekend.  On Saturday, I met with a group of delightful ladies who are a part of the Bill Bennett phenomenon known as Saturday Morning In America.  As a long time dittohead, I can call this a phenomenon because Rush's shownever spawned anything like this group...why?  I have no idea....uh...errr...maybe I do.  I began listening to him in the feminazi days just so I could argue with him, until I realized that he was absolutely correct!  He taught me it's hard to argue with TRUTH.  Dr. Bennett's show is very different, and I cannot begin to explain the difference except to say that I enjoy him for his historical accuracy and his wise way of telling the same truths as Rush, in a very different way.

Saturday Morning in America began with a group of "Philly Girls" who decided that as fans of Dr. Bennett's show, they'd get together to discuss the show, the philosophy, their conservative ideas, and the joy of being with others who share the same values.  They shared their Saturday morning ritual with Bill and company, and soon other cities wanted to share their dream.  San Antonio was one of those cities.

On Friday, as I was waiting on hold to talk to Dr. Bennett onair, Lloyd the call screener asked me if I was a member of the San Antonio group.  I told him no, but that I'd tried to find the website with no success.  (I'd been adding an "s" to morning!)  He kindly gave me the link, and they contacted me in time on Friday afternoon in order for me to join the group on their monthly meeting the next day.  What a delight to spend time with like-minded, intelligent and politically savvy women at a wonderful restaurant!  It made up for the Saturdays I used to spend at Fisher House.

Tonight, though, was the weekend TOPPER!  Our El Salvadoran hero's family arrived in San Antonio tonight.  What a joy to see him reunited with his wife and children after nearly 2 years!  He was more mobile than I've seen him in four months, and his youngest daughter told him he "looked younger" to her, though it's been so long since she'd seen him!  Kids usually say how OLD folks look.  I believe it's the care, love and friendship he's received since he's been in America.  I pray this family can stay here in America.  He's fought for us, he deserves to be a citizen.
