Iraq The Model, and Their Comments

Lately I have seen some discontent in the comments section at ITM, or Iraq the Model.  Omar and Ali are in America, and Mohammed is working overtime, so the posts are not as frequent as we would like to see them.  It does not seem to daunt the "regulars", such as yours truly.  The wealth of information from this amazing group of people who feel like "family", is one of the gifts the brothers have provided many of us from around the world.  Here's one that I felt needed to be posted.  If this does not give you some perspective, there is nothing that will do so;

"just so you know:
>Below is some very interesting data reference deaths in the military. I >guarantee you will not read this in your local newspaper nor will you >see it on the daily news broadcast. I pray this will you to enlighten >folks around you to the brave and courageous young people serving in our >military.>>Deaths in the Military>>1980 .......... 2,392>1981 .......... 2,380>1982 .......... 2,318>1983 ......... 2,465>1984 .......... 1,999>1985 .......... 2,252>1986 .......... 1,984>1987 .......... 1,983>1988 .......... 1,819>1989 .......... 1,636>1990 ......... 1,508>1991 .......... 1,787>1992 .......... 1,293>1993 .......... 1,213>1994 ......... 1,075>1995 .......... 1,040>1996 .......... 974>1997 .......... 817>1998 .......... 826>1999 .......... 795>2000 ......... 774>2001 .......... 890>2002 .......... 1007>2003 ......... 1,410 [534*]>2004 .......... 1,887 [900*]>2005 ......... Figures so noted with an asterisk (*) indicates deaths as a result of >Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.>>You may initially feel confused when you look at these figures >—especially when you see that in 1980, during the term of President >Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities. What this clearly >indicates is that our media and our liberal politicians pick and choose >and tend to present only those facts that support their agenda driven >reporting. Another fact our left media and politicians like to slant is >that these brave men and women losing their lives are minorities. Wrong >again - The latest census shows the following:>>European descent (white) ..... 69.12%>Hispanic .... 12.5%>African American ..... 12.3%>Asian ..... 3.7%>Native American .... 1.0%>Other ..... 2.6%>>The fatalities over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom are:>>European descent (white) .... 74.31%>Hispanic ..... 10.74%>African American ... 9.67%>Asian ..... 1.81%>Native American .... 1.09%>Other .... 2.33%>>These statistics are published by DOD and may be viewed at:>>>http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf> www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf>>http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf>>

    My apology for changing the subject, but have you heard that the City of Austin is seriously trying to ban panhandling? They have already banned "aggressive" panhandling...even though the laws were already on the books against assault (including grabbing someone's arm or spitting) and vandalism of a motor vehicle.

    Let me get this straight...the city that prides (key word here, "pride") itself on it's big heart, the city that is always having charity fundraisers for this or that or a 5k run benefitting something...

    This same city--Austin--wants to tell the poor and downtrodden that their Constitutional right to freedom of speech is null and void. That they cannot ask me for a dollar or two.

    And they want to tell you and me that we can't hand these folks money.

    Are some panhandlers fakes? Probably. But I doubt that the guy that I see down at MoPac south by 71 (Oak Hill), who only has one leg, is.

    I also doubt that the woman down on south Lamar right before it becomes 290 is, since she can barely walk and moves like she's 90, although she's probably more like 40.

    To the City of Austin: where is your heart? Why do you take such pride in being "liberal" and "progressive", yet you are allowing your city to be transformed into a toll-roaded, free-speech-limited, camera-watching nanny state?

    The hypocrisy of the City of Austin totally disgusts me.

    Thanks for listening, Dagney! Love ya, gal.

      What will the politicians do? If begging is illegal, that only leaves stealing as a means for local politicians to fatten their bank accounts. Talk about self inflected wounds.

    Oh, dear friend! Please don't tell me you have just experienced first hand the hypocrisy of the left?

    Harry Reid screams that Rush Limbaugh has maligned our troops, while at the same time saying they have "lost the war", or his buddy Biden castigating Rush for calling soldiers "phony" (he was calling PHONY soldiers "phony"!) while accusing them of using "gulag" tactics at Abu Ghraib.

    Imagine that, hypocrisy on the left. LMBO!
