The Real Story

While the world focus is on the arrival in New York of Ahmadinejad from Iran, they are missing another perhaps more important player

"But there was nothing hesitant about the way Sarkozy, the 52-year-old leader on the French right, laid out his agenda before departing for New York to make his debut at the United Nations General Assembly.

For Sarkozy, the most burning issue is Iran's nuclear program.

France's position, he explained, is clear: "No nuclear weapon for Iran, an arsenal of sanctions to convince them, negotiations, discussions, firmness. And I don't want to hear anything else that would not contribute usefully to the discussion today."

Sarkozy is a man with a drive, and for myself, I am happy he is on our side!  He would make a formidable foe.  Hear that, Ahmadinejad?

Meanwhile, our tax dollars should not be going to any institution which refuses our military access to their campus!  Especially institutions like this one, who invites a sponsor of terrorism who denies the holocaust to speak;

"City Council speaker Christine Quinn called Thursday for the university to rescind the invitation, saying "the idea of Ahmadinejad as an honored guest anywhere in our city is offensive to all New Yorkers."

Quinn, a Democrat, said Ahmadinejad was coming to the city "for one reason—to spread his hate-mongering vitriol on the world stage."

His planned appearance at Columbia also was condemned by Jewish groups including the Jewish Defense Organization, which described Ahmadinejad as "the Hitler of Iran."

Columbia spokesman Robert Hornsby said Thursday there was no plan to cancel the appearance, though the university dropped plans for an Ahmadinejad speech last year because of security and logistical problems. The decision came after a Jewish activist group expressed outrage over the invitation."

That Ahmadinejad is even on American soil is a travesty allowed by the State Dept.  As Ronald Reagan refused to allow Yasser Arafat to address the UN or come to America, so Bush should have refused Ahmadinejad to become a photo op for our enemies to use in their media war against us!

    I've been reading about Sarkozy too, and am very impressed with him so far. He truely seems to understand the threat posed by Iran. This is very good news, because for all the fun we poke at the French it would be very good to have them on our side if it came down to a shooting war. They have a pretty decent aircraft carrier in the Charles De Gaule, and a French task force built around it would be of big help.
