Iraqi women launch 'Bas' peace movement
By Kawther Abdul Amir
Baghdad, May 10, (VOI)-A group of Iraqi women launched a peace movement, called Balad al-Salam Bas lil Unf (Abode of Peaceā¦No More Violence) in an effort to promote peace, put an end to violence and random killings, and defuse the political tensions in the country, the movement secretary said on Thursday.
"The movement is set up to respond to Iraq's need for a new philosophy and an honest and collective will. It is established to provide stability and security for the Iraqi people, to bring peace and to resolve current conflicts in Iraq," Iraqi Minister of Environment and Secretary General of the movement Nermin Othman said in a press conference held to announce the launch of the movement.
Gosh, the mean-stream drive-by media did not report this? What is wrong with them? [Dadgum, I keep getting my tongue embedded in my cheek! Sheesh!]
This is a movement that is notable in many ways, not the least of which is that Basra has been the strong-hold of Shiites and their attempts to have Shari'a law be the predominant governing power. So how could these Iraqi women possibly have the "guts" to establish a woman's natural position in God's world as a tempering, gentling influence? Yes, I said "God's world", not "Allah's world". IMHO, because Iraqis want to live in peace and unity, and have been largely sectarian for the past four decades. Someone in the west is assisting them, as evidenced by their English signage, but I'll bet it is not NOW.

She reminds me of Susan B. Anthony! A lot of these women in America do not have any gratitude. If it were not for her and many before her, we would still not have the right to vote. How very disgusting and disappointing.
When is the last time you heard of women voting in Kosovo? Hmm?
