He's been a failure as Attorney General from the beginning.  He has exacerbated the Injustice Dept.'s failures and lapses, and now he's appearing in front of a Senate hearing sounding like he never had a backbone!  President Bush, I don't care if this woosie guy is your friend, he should never have been put into this position of power.  He's powerless by his behavior:

"Struggling to save his credibility and perhaps his job, Gonzales testified at least 45 times at a Senate hearing he could not recall events he was asked about.

After a long morning in the witness chair, Gonzales returned after lunch to face a fresh challenge to his credibility. "Why is your story changing?" asked Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, noting that the attorney general was now accepting responsibility for the firings after initially saying he had played only a minor role.

In response, Gonzales replied that his earlier answers had been "overbroad" and the result of inadequate preparation. "

Mr. Gonzales, you never earned credibility.  Why should you now be expecting it?  You lost it when Scooter Libby was railroaded.  To add insult to injury you allowed William Jefferson to continue to operate as a congressman, despite nearly a hundred thousand or so dollars he was keeping in his freezer.  President Bush doesn't have a great track record with the Injustice Department leadership, especially since the Sandy Burglar slap on the wrist fiasco under the purview of AG Ashcroft. 

Hello, Mr. Bush, can we please have someone running the Injustice Department who will turn it around? 

Sorry, Mr. Gonzales, it is long past time for you to be gone.
