Keep Your Liberal Noses Out Of America's Business
"I think the reason it happens in America is there's access to weapons — you can go into a supermarket and get powerful automatic weapons," Keith Ashcroft, a psychologist, told the Press Association. Ashcroft said he believed such access, along with a culture that makes gun ownership seem normal, increases the likelihood of such attacks in the United States.
"When you look at these cases, someone is depressed and they have access to weapons, they're going to be using that method to kill," Ashcroft said. "It's just simple opportunity."
Excuse me, Sir. The campus in this case was a so-called "gun-free zone". That worked well, didn't it? The call has been going out for a long time to lose that "gun-free" nonsense, and allow concealed carry lawful students, and especially teachers, to pack. [hat tip: Michelle Malkin] Here's a taste of how the argument went;
"Late last summer, a shooting near campus prompted students to clamor again for loosening campus rules against armed self-defense. Virginia Tech officials turned up their noses. In response to student Bradford Wiles's campus newspaper op-ed piece in support of concealed carry on campus, Virginia Tech associate vice president Larry Hincker scoffed:
"[I]t is absolutely mind-boggling to see the opinions of Bradford Wiles…The editors of this page must have printed this commentary if for no other reason than malicious compliance. Surely, they scratched their heads saying, 'I can't believe he really wants to say that.' Wiles tells us that he didn't feel safe with the hundreds of highly trained officers armed with high powered rifles encircling the building and protecting him. He even implies that he needed his sidearm to protect himself."
The nerve!"
How did those highly trained officers, armed, allow 32 people to be slaughtered? Answer: They cannot be everywhere.
Now for the edification of our British cousins; when law-abiding citizens are armed, slaughters like the one that took place at Virginia Tech will not be as catastrophic as this one. Statistics show that the incidents of legally held concealed gun owners stop 4 to 5 times the number of crimes that actually occur. In other words, if we did not have legal gun ownership, we would have 5 times the crimes committed. If someone at VT had been armed, a legal concealed gun owner, the death toll might well have been a handful, not the 32 dead! Tough gun control does not stop crime. Period.
I've seen actual bumper stickers that proclaim "Guns kill people." Really! I love passing those cars, and slowing down in front of them so they can see MY sticker. It's just a simple little logic question, "If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?" Create your own logic question. How about "If guns kill people, do spoons make Rosie O'Donnell fat?" Or how about, "If guns kill people, are combs responsible for Donald Trump's hair-do?" (I'm not taking sides in that fight! I'm an equal opportunity offender.) Add your logic questions in the comments section.
Did I mention I'm a lawfully licensed concealed carry...and I do carry!

Oh, come come, Dagney - you know better than to take any notice of a Brit, and a psychologist to boot!! Just leave him alone and hopefully his kind will go away! And if he doesn't, whisper 'Dunblane' to him, and ask him to explain. British psychologist - Good Grief!

Thanks for the "heads up", JD. Here's the story; http://century.guardian.co.uk/1990-1999/Story/0,,112749,00.html
Gun free zones obviously do not work!

"If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?"
Great... The usual same old logical fallacy which keeps getting used over and over again.
In keeping with the pencil-pen comparison, no, pencils do not cause you to misspell words, nor do cars cause you to drive drunk. That isn't the point in the first place. The point is that pencils make it much easier to write, and cars make it much easier to get from one place to another. Now if you'd apply this same logic to guns, maybe it would finally get through to you cowboy gun lovers what kind of point pro-gun control people are trying to make.

There is only one law that insures America will never become a dictatorship, Mr. Not-True-Blue, and that is the "right to keep and bear arms" guarenteed to Americans. I doubt you can find any logical argument to that little fact.
