How Long Must We Hear "Non-Binding Resolution"? UPDATED
"The Senate's resolution is non-binding and does not carry the weight of law."
That's really the bottom line, whether it was then, or now. I wonder if the Senate's exercise in futility then, is any different now? How many of these time wasters have we had? What this one does is not to encourage the enemy.
This one, however does exactly that, and beyond that, it is disheartening and discouraging to our troops! They don't have the courage of their convictions to pull funding for the war, so they waste their time and our tax dollars. It's disgusting.
Which begs the question, why would they do such a thing? Are they hoping for a defeat? Of course! They want to see the Iraq push be defeated, the efforts in Iraq defeated, which would hand Bush a defeat. Well folks, while the congress has been laboring and debating this traitorous behavior, our side is continuing the fight, and winning.
"The number of Iraqi civilians killed in Baghdad's sectarian violence fell drastically overnight, an Iraqi military official said Friday, crediting the joint U.S.-Iraqi security operation that began in force just days ago.
Iraqi army Brig. Gen. Qassim Moussawi, a spokesman for the Baghdad commander, said only 10 bodies had been reported by the morgue in the capital, compared to an average of 40 to 50 per day.
"This shows a big reduction in terror and killing operations in Baghdad," he said on Iraqi state television.
Maj. Gen. Joseph Fil, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, also reported a reduction in violence, attributing it to both the increased U.S. and Iraqi security presence and an apparent decision by the militias and insurgents to lay low.
"They're watching us carefully. There's an air of suspense throughout the city. We believe, there's no question about it, that many of these extremists are laying low and watching to see what it is we do and how we do it. How long that will last, we don't know," he said.
A U.S. military spokesman, meanwhile, said there were no indications that the al-Qaida in Iraq leader had been killed or wounded in a raid, contradicting reports from the Iraqi government. Further calling the reports into question, an Iraqi army officer said the al-Qaida leader's deputy - said to be killed in Thursday's raid north of Baghdad - has been jailed for a week south of the city. Between the moonbat media, and the Donk party's new-found "voice" after the last election, how many times have you heard that the American people are not supporting the war effort? Maybe a better way to ask that question is, "how many times today have you heard about the American people not supporting the war?" Since Fox News and the internet are the only way we can be heard, I highly recommend you check out a few sites that Blackfive has listed here. I recommend copy/paste, as the links didn't seem to work for me. I don't know about you, but I've not heard one single American who says we should leave Iraq unfinished. I have further heard no one say they support the likes of Murtha, Sheehan, et al. [Yes, I put Congressman Murthass and Cindy "Whiney" Sheehan in the same category.] In fact, there is evidence of it being quite the opposite!
If you think I'm PO'd, take a gander at how our veterans look at it!
"This is a sad day and we must make those responsible for it pay. The deep-seated hatred of W has blinded these people to the consequences of their actions. Just because they throw themselves to the floor kicking their feet and wailing doesn't change a damn thing in the reality-based world. If they succeed in ending the war and declaring defeat they will have effectively hobbled our diplomatic efforts as well. Not that I am a big fan of formalized lying in formal wear, but to have any success in that arena, the threat of force is vital. We will lose that and bad actors around the globe will be aware that the big dog is chained up if the Dems have their way."
Only those with the experience can really say it like it IS!
