2007 Wake Up Call
"Witnesses report significant numbers of foreign fighters on the run as jihadists [mufsidun] abandoned the town overnight in the face of advancing government forces. "Somali Islamists flee final bastion: residents," from Reuters:
KISMAYU, Somalia (Reuters) - Somali Islamists fled overnight from their final stronghold around the southern port town of Kismayu in the face of an advancing force of Ethiopian and government soldiers, residents said on Monday.
"The Islamic courts left Kismayu last night. They left (their front line at) Jilib as well," a Kismayu resident told Reuters. "Nobody knows where they went. There's a lot of confusion."
Let's look at the confusion: world-wide media says;
1. Democrats won the election, that must mean Bush is losing support in America,
2. 65% of Americans want an end to the war,
3. That must mean we, the pseudo-jihadists cum mufsidun, are winning. Right?
WRONG!
All of the media ads pleading for help in Somalia have led many to believe America is ignoring their plight. It just is not true;
"The besieged Somalia Islamic Courts Council (SICC) had rallied several thousand fighters at Jilib, just north of Kismayu on the shores of the Indian Ocean, after a retreat south 300 km (190 miles) from the capital Mogadishu.
Somali government forces and their Ethiopian allies had rained down mortars and rockets on the Islamist fighters dug in near Kismayu on Sunday to start a battle against the Islamists.
Kenya has reinforced its northern border and U.S. forces are also said to be in the region, including the sea, to prevent foreign militants aligned with the Islamists from escaping."
Maybe the "wake up" call is being heard, and we may not have to undergo another 9/11 type attack (Thank you, Mr. President, for continuing to keep us safe.)
I heard one of Dennis Miller's famous sardonic quips this morning. His comment, to paraphrase, said that maybe we should elect a Democrat for president in the next election. Knowing he'd be hearing a cacaphony of cat calls, he asked for patience to explain. He may have a point! He said that the war was going to have to get down and dirty, that we'd have to get in there, sans "PC", and get the job DONE! I have no argument with that. His justification? The Donks could do it under cover of their cohorts in the media, who would never bring up the necessary actions needed to fight a winning effort. Without the media scrutinizing every action, demonizing our military at every turn, and basically getting out of the way of the war effort, we could win this thing! For now, they feel they must point out all of the "methods", i.e., actual efforts to WIN this war as being "barbaric", or worse, so long as Bush is in charge!
Thank you, Mr. Miller. You really do have a point! As long as our dinosaur media champions the enemy, and demonizes Bush and our military, we are doomed to fighting with one hand tied behind our backs. When the media is on board with the White House residents, perhaps we can fight the war to WIN!
