Conservatism Wins Elections

Yesterday was a travel day for us.  We are in Iowa visiting my mom...the Democrat.  It was a particularly bitter pill to swallow watching the election returns in her kitchen.  I had faith in the American people that they would "hire" conservatives at the polls.  As it turns out, they think they did:  Conservative Donks!  They threw out the GOP representatives they'd hired two years ago to represent them conservatively.  They didn't.

The Republican party let us down.  I hope that the Democrats who were "hired" yesterday were sincere in their conservatism, unlike Shrillary the Fakir (sic).    The really sad part of yesterday's results is that President Bush is going to get his amnesty legislation that very few of us want for America.  It remains to be seen whether the new batch of "conservative" donks coming into the House are going to play along with Nancy Pelooser's liberal agenda.  If they balk at her proposals and refuse their support, then we'll know they were genuinely conservative.  If not, and the GOP realizes how they let the American people down and behaves accordingly, the GOP will win back the house in '08.

It should be an interesting two years.  Be vigilant, and make sure your voices are heard in the coming two years.

Well the GOP squandered the chance that was given them. I hope that we can come up with some dynamic leadership. I am a wet blanket - I know. I am putting you on my 'feel good' list because I admire your optimism. Troll and I are feeling quite negative about the whole thing and need a little lift. Thanks, Dagney!

Congratulations. I hope they do not piss me off so much by their behavior that I regret being civil...

You're right, of course. Those who lost were big-government, immoral, corrupt Republicans. Unfortunately, I think we've replaced them with bigger-government, immoral, corrupt Democrats.

    But conservatives didn't lose.
