As Promised!
"When the most interesting thing about a political campaign involves a candidate who chose not to run, it's safe to say that the race doesn't exactly rank up there with Lincoln-Douglas.
The contest for Nevada attorney general was knocked off its axis early this year when the odds-on favorite, Attorney General George Chanos - handpicked by Gov. Kenny Guinn last year to complete the term of fellow Republican Brian Sandoval, who became a federal judge - abruptly announced that he would not seek a full four-year term.
Chanos' departure threw the race wide open - but also transformed the campaign into one that has barely shown up on the political radar screen. "
The only thing this tells us is that this is a NON story to the Las Vegas Sun! As usual, bloggers and talk radio have to cover what the MSM refuses to cover!
"Look at what Reid did to make his land purchase a windfall of nearly 3/4’s of a million dollars without any documentation (or taxes, speaking of giving tax breaks to the rich):
Nevada land deeds show Reid and his wife first bought the property in January 1998 in a proposed subdivision created partly with federal lands transferred by the Interior Department to private developers.
Reid’s two lots were never owned by the government, but the piece of land joining Reid’s property to the street corner _ a key to the shopping center deal _ came from the government in 1994. [AJStrata: making the property Reid bought valuable IF the land were to be developed, and basically useless otherwise]
…
Around the time of the 1998 sale, Lessman and his company were completing a complicated federal land transfer that also involved an Arizona-based developer named Del Webb Corp.
In the deal, Del Webb and Perma-Bilt purchased environmentally sensitive lands in the Lake Tahoe area, transferred them to the government and then got in exchange several pieces of valuable Las Vegas land.
Lessman was personally involved, writing a March 1997 letter to Interior lobbying for the deal. “This exchange has been through many trials and tribulations … we do not need to create any more stumbling blocks,” Lessman wrote.
For years, Reid also had been encouraging Interior to make land swaps on behalf of Del Webb, where one of his former aides worked.
What is clear is Reid only purchased the land after some initial hurdles were cleared - specifically the land swap where developers bought useless property (”environmentally sensitive” means no development, none) in one state and then traded it in for property someplace else where they could develop. "
Granted, Hubby and I were only able to read one day of the Las Vegas' moonbat newspaper, so I went to their site and did a search for "harry reid land deals". You'll love what I came up with! See if you can figure out if this guy is "fer him" or "agin him" (we loutish rightwingers will understand that lingo...the lefties will laugh and point)
"Even if there is no equivalency between Reid making a high-six-figure profit thanks to Brown - the issue of proper disclosure notwithstanding - and Walters insinuating himself into all the corridors of power on Stewart Avenue, the commonality here is land. There is so much money in land in this valley and so many people have made so much money from being in the right place at the right time or having the right friends or the right lobbyists or the right people in government.
The perception that certain developers and their friends have access to insider information gleaned from their government contacts has persisted for years. The reality that elected officials worth five or six figures when they take office and then are worth seven or eight when they leave, or shortly thereafter, only fuels suspicions.
Harry Reid can argue - and he has been doing so vociferously - that this is a simple land transaction by him and Brown and that there may be a technical disclosure issue. But considering the controversy over LLCs (you can have silent partners), considering they tried to split hairs over the difference between a "sale" and a "transfer," considering that Brown has immense influence with the commission, especially with Yvonne Atkinson Gates and at one time with Dario Herrera, it's no wonder people are suspicious. "
Interestingly, Strata-Sphere has a follow-up story about our pal Clinton, whose week-end blame game against the GOP begs for this story to be told;
"Are these connections valid? Was a desparate Clinton trying to do whatever he could to win re-election? Were deals made that would normally be rejected by the liberal base because they meant giving lands to developers and others. As I stated earlier, this deal has produced nearly a billion dollars a year in commercial activity around Las Vegas. The more you dig the stranger (and smellier) this hole deal looks. Where are the super sleuthes from the drive-by media on this??? I am just googling."
Anyone hear for a call for Dirty Harry to resign, the way they did with Denny Hastert? Congressman Hastert did what? He asked for a GOP congressman to quit, and insisted on a complete investigation, and every paper in the country was screaming for his head! Reid is as dirty as any politician ever hoped to become, and the left is totally silent. Unfortunately, it's just as quiet on the right, but it is clear: Hypocrisy abounds on the left!

Wall, I called for him to step down so's we could string 'em up but he run.
We'll git 'em.

I blame Republicans. If they don't know how to fight a simple scumbag, get out of Congress and let someone in who can! I'm ready, willing and able, and I won't take any crap.
