An Iraqi's Plea, A Soldier's Assessment

Boy, would I love to get these two guys together!  Alaa is one of my favorite Iraqi bloggers.  His succinct assessments of the current conditions in Iraq are invaluable to Americans looking for the truth.  In this post, Alaa is looking for some help in encouraging the people of Anbar in their fight against al Qaeda and other terrorists.

"The anti-Qaeda and anti-terrorist sentiment has been growing steadily in the province. The atrocities committed against the people there are not less terrible than those perpetrated against the Shiaas and the people elsewhere in Iraq. This is an urgent call not to let down the people in the Anbar who want to do the right thing. Don't let us have a repititon of the tragedy of Shaik Ussama Al-Jadaan. I have my own personal connections in the Anbar and I know this movement is quite real. They need help, support and encouragement urgently. Please someone take notice.
Regards."

In searching for someone to whom I could pass along Alaa's plea, I visited Milblog headquarters, linked at Mudville Gazette.  While perusing the links listed, I came across Buck, and this post;

The Shiite militias need to be disarmed, disbanded, or destroyed. This may seem obvious, but it not only needs to be repeated, it is practically begging to be translated into action.

"The Army has sent our veteran Stryker brigade — on the cusp of a long-deserved homecoming — instead back to Iraq to begin the equivalent of a third consecutive Marine tour of duty. The security of Baghdad is the official reason, but if you read between the lines, it is actually to generate positive headlines for the upcoming midterm Congressional elections. The administration is living under the fantasy that the Iraqi capital can be secured with photo-op half-measures that will somehow miraculously translate into positive media coverage of the results. On both counts, they could not possibly be more wrong."

As I have said before, bureaucratic efficiency is an oxymoron!  Can we please let folks like Alaa and Buck bring this Iraq theater of the global war on Islamofascism to a successful conclusion and leave the bureaucraps in Washington D. C. out of the loop?!

[For you Muslim folks who have a problem with the word "Islam" being used with "fascists", be reassured that if this were a portion of the Christian population perpetrating these atrocities, I'd be happy to call them "christofascists"!  Stop complaining and reclaim your religion from these evildoers!]

Thanks to Buck, I have a photo of said bureaucraps!
