We'll Miss Steve

I'm not one to keep up with television personalities, but Steve Irwin was hard to ignore.  I heard of his untimely demise very early this morning, and all day long my mind has been playing replays of the sometimes heart-stopping, often smile-making, and always memorable moments I've spent watching him.  It didn't matter what he was doing, you always knew this was a MAN!  How many times did he scare the living bejeebers out of morning talk show hosts?  What he taught me about the wild animals he loved so dearly is more than I've ever learned from any TV personality.  The lamentable feminization of American men in recent years, combined with the love story of Steve and his American wife Terri, has led many of my single lady friends to spend considerable time and dollars in pursuing the idea of an Aussie loverboy!  His boyish demeanor, obvious love of life, and contagious enthusiasm for wild life worldwide will be missed.  Rest in Peace, Steve Irwin.

    Dagney...

I agree that he'll be greatly missed. His widely known "tagline" of "Crikey!" will never be replaced.

While it's sad...and the grieving in the days to come for his friends and family will undoubtedly be tough, can you imagine "The Crocodile Hunter" going to his great reward in his sleep 50 years from now? No way! While I'm sure he'd have rather tussled a bit with the "cheeky bugger" first, this is the way men like Steve Irwin would choose to go.

May God bless his family in their hour of sorrow, but I know that by the time I catch up with him he'll have figured out that new "barbie" and found the best beer heaven has to offer. Save me a plate and a pint!

Look for me from the high ground.

Major, I feel the fine Hand of the Lord in this! No one will be able to find filmed images of pieces of him missing from the bite of a croc or other flesh eating animal. Rather his demise was fast and from a normally benign creature. He didn't suffer, and neither will his family from images that could be too horrid to contemplate!

Indeed, a sad day. I can hear him saying "Crikey" over and over again.

But I'm betting he was quite happy when he died, and died the way he'd want to go, while working with the wildlife he so dearly loved.
