What Feminism Has Wrought
The question came up today, "Are there any male institutions which...." Fill in the blank, and I can probably show you where women from my generation have invaded, tainted, and in many cases ruined any place where men can congregate and do "guy things", or talk "guy talk". From Augusta National's Masters tournament to the Elks Club, women have used the tried and true "Old Boys' Network" formula to break up and take over places where men have traditionally had a place to go and do what women take for granted. We women have jealously and fervently guarded our "womens club" attitude, whether it is with our own close circle of gal pals, or our clubs devoted to "WOMEN ONLY", yet we have stood by while our men have lost their bastions of male dominated gathering places. Who are the losers? We ALL are! My lady friends who are members of Lion's Club would disapprove of my saying it, but it's true!
Without these bastions, these halcyons of male dominated refuges, could we be driving the young men of our nation into detrimental arenas such as Islamofacism and gangs? Think about it!! With no haven for male-only thought or communication, could it be upsetting the "balance of power"? Male "dominance" is being tainted and misused by Islamofacists and gangland? Even the Boy Scouts have been castigated by the left and their pals, the ACLUnatics! I'm almost wishing for the good old days of the "Old Boy Network"!
To add insult to injury, we have had to deal with women like Anna Diggs Taylor, who side with Islamofacists rather than their own country's safety!
These lefty libs do not seem to understand that they will be the first to have their heads lopped off if the Islamofacists win this war. Maybe I should have entitled this post, "What Feminism Has [caused to] Rot!"

It's called emasculation, Dagney...and yes, it's very, very real.
On a counterpoint...I've considered trying to join Curves...an exclusively female gym. How do you think that would go over? I'd say that the proverbial "toot" in church would be far more welcome.
It's true...I've been keeping an eye on the US Army for over 26 years now and like it or not, it's happening there too. Your soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time learning to live in an environment that's not all that well suited for the fairer sex. I'm not saying that there aren't contributions to be made by lady soldiers...but were I unable to walk, there aren't that many gals out there that are going to toss my limp 200 pounds up over their shoulders or drag my blown up butt out of harm's way. From what I see around me on a daily basis, I would question whether many of the male soldiers could do it either.
Yes, in the pursuit of "equality" physical training has most definitely taken on "poof-tah" air (Australian for "sissy") where aerobics (don't get me wrong ladies...they'd probably kill me) have replaced the good old daily dozen that strengthened all the right things that combat soldiers needed most...strong legs, strong arms and strong backs and chests. Today, while it might be interesting to watch at times...it certainly isn't preparing anyone for the inevitable.
Oh well, it's your rant...not mine.

Your rant added a dimension to mine that I could not have approached, but one which I have been aware of: the military feminization! It's a more frightening dimension than my points! I got the ball rolling, and you put it in the end zone! Thanks for your input.

I wouldn't be that hard on them Dagney. I doubt that any one will be driven into the arms of Islamofascists, although I agree about the lack of gender specific gathering places. I believe that there will be a backlash although I'm not sure how it will manifest itself.

It has manifested in a number of ways, Mike. The first and worst is that men hesitate before they do what they know is right for fear of "offending" or starting a firestorm of female protestations, sexual harrassment charges, etc., and that is just WRONG!
I've dealt with sexual inuendos by putting the offender in his place, not by filing a ridiculous complaint! Women have gotten too thin skinned, and men have become to compliant, and it infuriates me!
If I am hard on my fellow women, perhaps they will realize what donkeys behinds they have become, and how it is hurting us all!

Dagney, never fear, we have our clubs -- we just won't tell you where they are. Seriously. We've gone underground and continue to have our meetings and our secrets, we just absolutely will not make them public for the reasons you list.
Is it wrong? Is it bad? You bet. It is destroying culture? Absolutely. But there are some dinosaurs, like me, who just won't give up. I'm going to hold that damn door for you, whether you like it or not. I'm not getting on the elevator alone with a woman because it's wrong and I really don't give a damn who disapproves.
We're out here, we're just not as visible as we used to be.
