Iraqi Hearts And Minds

Omar and Mohammed, at Iraq The Model, have done some fabulous reporting on the change of hearts and minds of Iraqis who have had a taste of freedom.  Both brothers had perused over 500 posts on a bulletin board of a site [in Arabic] addressing the situation in Gaza over the kidnapped Israeli soldier.  To their surprise and delight, they learned that the preponderance of the Iraqi commenters spoke in favor of the Israeli actions in defense of their missing soldier, while other commenters, from less freedom-loving countries in ME were staunchly on the side of the terrorist Hamas.

If ever there was a country who has felt the unholy terror of Islamofacists like those who make up Hamas, it is Iraq.  There are some pretty amazing comments the brothers translated, here's a sample:  [please go read the entire post]

"There are trends that still live by the past and its dark residues of killing ignorance.
We are the sons of today and our minds must develop at a pace close to that of intellectual development of the world. We cannot solve issues with violence, murder and destruction of nations. We have to use logic and dialogue to convince those you disagree with, and once we do that we will have defeated our enemies, at least on the political arena which enables us to win the moral case before other nations.
Reckless policies that believe only in rifles, cannons and slayings belong to the past and will bring nothing but further destruction and chaos.

Strange they speak in the name of Islam while the prophet of Islam was tolerant in dealing with his enemies [whenever he could] for the sake of his message. Those who slay people like sheep are far from the values of that honorable message"
Hashim all-Tabatabai: Baghdad/Iraq."

The comment, 'trends that still live by the past' is indicative of the difference in the Iraqi mindset, from the mindset in other Arab countries.  By planting this seed of mental growth in the center of the ME, we are planting the seed of peace for our country.

Now all we need to do is to prevent the spread of this sort of infiltration from happening in our own country!

"For the first time, a former Orange County, Calif. teenage rock music fan has revealed his role as a top al Qaeda leader.

Adam Gadahn, who disappeared from California seven years ago, appeared unmasked on an al Qaeda tape made public on the internet today.

As previously reported by ABC News, the FBI had concluded that the masked man was Gadahn based on voice analysis of previous al Qaeda tapes.  On today's tape, Gadahn is bearded, wearing a turban."

How was he recruited?  Via the internet.  Parents, what are your children doing on the internet?  To my son and daughter-in-law, what are my grandsons learning on the internet?

I was over there earlier, and was I amazed! I read the whole thing. These guys are great.

I've added an Arabic translator to my site. You may want to check it out. If you want the code for it, let me know.

What a wonderful thing to learn. Iraq is finally winning because of Iraqis! (That is the title of the post I am going to write. Or similar.) Have a great day.

Rosemary, the last link is the scary one! The brothers' link is upbeat and positive, until you read about an American man who is now considered "a leader in al Qaeda"! Parents need to start parenting, and know what their kids are doing on the internet, i.e., are they learning to be an Islamofacist, or a pedophile? We have freedom, but our children should not be free to succumb to this kind of mind-bending abuse of use of the computer! Parents should pay more attention to what their kids are doing on them! I know my own grandsons spend countless unsupervised hours on the internet, and it worries me to death!

I agree with you. As a child, it was made perfectly clear to me. I was a little smarty pie. My Mother and Father set me straight (for a little while, anyway. )

Outside was a republic, inside was a dictatorship. Got that? Good!

That was the end of all other discussions on my 'rights' in the house. What they said, that was the rule. They did not even explain, most of the time, why they made a decision one way or the other!

Yes. The old time fav. "Because I said so." I hated that, but it turns out they were right. If only I would have listened...I might have if they told me why! Take care.
