How Do I Say This?

I have been trying all this weekend, to decide how to impart this story.  One of the hallmarks of bloggers and blogs is to be able to source our posts, as opposed to MSM who use "anonymous sources".  Since my source for this story must remain anonymous, I guess I need to plead guilty to the same trend (?) of NYT and the other so-called "experts" in the media business.

I live in a rather unique area of the world.  It is near a multitude of military bases, and is populated by a multitude of retired military personnel.  As a 5' female born in a time that disallowed women of my stature from military service, however my life has been peppered with individuals who have served our country.  I feel blessed because of it.  Neighbors, ex-husbands, friends, and all manner of acquaintenances in my life have intimate knowledge of military life.  That having been said, I had a very interesting conversation today.  I cannot source it, nor can I verify it, but suffice it to say, I believe it.

What's the story?  Let me preface it by saying that the individual was a part of our intelligence community.  This person imparted to me something that quantified and qualified my opinion about someone in the media who I have railed against, but who is now disgraced and retired from the traditional MSM.  Some may consider the point to be moot.  It is nonetheless a lesson in why we need to look at what our media reports as questionable, at the very least.

That having been said, let me take you back in time to Bosnia.  Remember that Clinton decision?  American troops are still in Bosnia, all be it under the auspices of the thoroughly corrupt UN.  We no longer hear about it, because the media is not trying to "sell" Clinton as a leader, and besides; they've been distracted by Iraq.  Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly, the media has been mysteriously absent in their condemnation of our "occupation" of Bosnia, or the attendant actions in that part of the world.  I guess when the UN is involved, the left sees nothing wrong with it.

The media personality I'm referring to, the discredited and now retired person in question, televised an on-site report from Bosnia a few years back, during the last administration.  The report was about "snipers" this person was reporting a televised report of a sniper who was caught on the reporter's camera as shooting someone.  The revelation I received was that our intelligence reported back that this media person had hired the sniper!!!  I leave the rest of that news item to your understanding and/or conjecture.

The bottom line, [the line that I like to get to in my posts is always a "bottom line"] is that we need to keep a jaundiced eye on anything the media reports.  We need to do our own homework, and to make our own deductions.  Gone are the days when we can believe what their cameras tell us!  It does not matter if it is ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN or even Fox News.  People with an agenda will push their agenda.  People trying to sell marketing air time, or newspapers, are free to say anything they damn well please!  Now that we have the internet, there is no excuse to be taken in.  We can do our own research, and use our own God-given discernment we are told in the Bible to use.

I think that one of the reasons that the mainstream media is terrified of bloggers and the blogs they write is out of abject fear. We tend to write it as we see it. We don't have a vested, monetary interest in "publishing" sensational news stories...and our sources are of course, very close to the action we tend to report.

Look at all the "good news" stories you've been reading on the military blogs! Have you seen many of these stories on the tube or in your local paper...probably not unless of course you live in communities like ours. You live in an environment densely populated by retired military...and I live in one saturated with retired and active military. Our papers probably have a little more respect for the community than to print just the "bad news."

    Keep up the good work!
