I guess I should be used to the constant contradictions and double standards that we get from the schizophrenic Democrat party and their looney left adherents, but sometimes it just seems that they think we are stupid.  They think we won't remember what they said about any given subject last time, so we won't notice when they contradict themselves. 

"It is shocking that the Iraqi Prime Minister is reportedly considering granting amnesty to insurgents who have killed U.S. troops," said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid. "On the day we lost the 2,500th soldier in Iraq, the mere idea that this proposal may go forward is an insult to the brave men and women who have died in the name of Iraqi freedom. I call on President Bush to denounce this proposal immediately."

Democrats offered a Resolution demanding that this policy be repudiated, and that President Bush immediately inform the government of Iraq — in the strongest possible terms — that the United States opposes granting amnesty to anyone who attacks American soldiers. The text of the Sense of the Senate resolution is attached below.

"We ask you Prime Minister Maliki, are you willing to have 'reconciliation' on the pool of American blood that has been spilled to give your people and your country a chance for freedom?" said Sen. Menendez, a sponsor of the resolution. "We reject that notion and are outraged that the sacrifice of American troops and the American people could be so devalued."

"Terrorists and insurgents shouldn't be rewarded for killing American soldiers," said Sen. Bill Nelson, of Florida, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee who also sponsored the resolution."

Now wait just a doggone minute!  Weren't these just "freedom fighters" who just resented the presence of our troops? 

It's not just the elected leaders on the left, it's also a disease that seems to have spread to their loyal moonbat adherents!  The brothers, at ITM recently told us about another program being implemented by their new government. 

"Brigadier AbdulJalil Khalaf, commander of the 1st brigade/6th IA division which is responsible for security in wide areas of Baghdad told al-Sabah that orders were given to the Iraqi soldiers to open fire on anyone seen carrying a weapon and does not belong to the official security forces "all weapons outside the official security forces or the MNF are enemy weapons and must be dealt with accordingly"."

Almost immediately, the looney lefty commenters came out of the woodwork to decry the disarming of folks openly carrying AK 47's down the streets in Baghdad!  It was really quite comical, when you consider these are the same folks who want to disarm Americans, and damn the 2nd Amendment rights.  Iraqis have the right to keep and bear arms...within reason, just as Americans do.  I carry a concealed weapon in my purse, along with my concealed weapon permit.  I do NOT walk around sporting it in public.  The looney left has just one criterium for choosing sides; whatever will make the GOP, or more importantly President Bush and our efforts in Iraq look "bad".  If Omar and Mohammed have good news, some moonbat commenter will relay bad news in Afghanistan.  They just never stop!
