Illegal Immigration & Unions!?!

I was stunned when I read this post at my pal Grizzly Mama's place!  This hit me on a number of levels!  The first one that shocked me was the "union" reference!  As I've posted often in the past [check the archives, which will remain there until someone teaches me how to import them!],  my dad was totally utterly a union kinda guy.  He wouldn't let us buy Fritos (non-union) and he refused to allow Coors beer (he was a beer drinker from Colorado!) in the house, because they were non-union corporations!  I argued until I was blue in the face that unions had outlived their usefulness, only to be told "we would have nothing without the union"!  Bull Puckey!  My dad worked 18 hour days!  It was NOT the union, but his HARD WORK that made sure we had everything we could ask for!

Now my brother is a high-up in his union, and for some odd reason he cannot answer me when I ask, "How do you feel when you're working your fanny off, which I know you do because you were raised with the same work ethic as me, yet the lazya$$ SOB next to you is getting the same pay?"  So when I saw this, I was totally appalled,

"The union in question is Carpenter's Union Local 515. The job site is Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. The union gave this Journeyman relative of mine (with over a decade of experience in construction) the reason for his abrupt dimissal. It was that he was not productive enough. My relative tried to explain that quite a bit of his time is spent in fixing the mistakes of the illegals on the job."

When you have unions so totally invested in one party, i.e., the Democrat party, this sort of thing is bound to happen!  What gives me a glimmer of light at the end of the proverbial tunnel is that I know most union folks are as conservative as my parents, and as my family oriented brother.  It also tells me that the Democrat party is like a boat without a rudder.  It's losing black Christians right and left with their stance on gay marriage, and now it will begin to lose union members due to their stance on illegal immigrants.  It does my conservative heart good!  Bring on the '06 elections!

Well, this is a good lead in for the chuckle for the day.

MajorMom's a realtor...and today got a lead from a Hispanic family we drove around showing homes to about six weeks ago. Come to find out, the folks they sent to her aren't exactly legal. No visa, no green card, but they have some sort of temporary status. ???? They've been here two years, have opened a business, are presumably paying taxes, yet there's nothing that says they're legal. Ethical dilemma, ain't it?

See you on the high ground.

Yes, but we must keep at the House Republicans! We must never allow them to think for one instant that open borders and law-breaking is a GOOD idea. I love him (Mr. President), but on this he is WRONG!

Hi Dagney. Thanks for the link. I am not a big 'union' person. I still don't understand how this can work - the way things went with my relative. It makes no sense. It's un-American! I thought the union 'line' was about Americans - protecting American workers. I don't get it. It made my piss-poor attitude toward unions even poorer. Then to find out that most of the unions are pro-open border. Yikes. Our guys can't get work in this country that they NEED because of the illegals in many areas. Especially the Southwest.

He has contacted Tom Tancredo - who is now his representative since he had to move back to the Denver area.

    Love that Tom Tancredo!
