An Iraqi's Blessing

Let me introduce you to my Iraq history teacher, Alaa.  He writes at The Mesopotamian.  Over the past 2-3 years, he's taught me as much about the remarkable past of this ancient land as I've learned from the Bible, and he's made me want to be able to visit his remarkable country.  He has meant so much to me, I've felt like he's become a part of my family.  Recently however, he's been distraught and disheartened over what had been happening in his country at the hands of a man he refers to as "pseudo-human".  With the death of Zarqawi, Alaa has returned to the keyboard, and he has a blessing to offer.

"I want to congratulate the valiant eagles of the American Air force and all the men of the U.S. Army, the Iraqi security forces and all those involved in executing this just punishment and for being the instrument of providential justice. Blessed be the wombs that bore you, and please accept this expression of gratitude and love from an ordinary Iraqi man. And as for you American people rest assured that our faith in victory has not shaken one single iota. I can only end with the words of our dear President Bush: “God Bless Iraq and May God continue to Bless America”."

When I read the words "our dear President Bush", tears welled in my eyes immediately!  [Emphasis mine]

Your's too? Gosh. I sure am glad to see he is back writing. He used to write very long articles not only about Iraq, but about the culture and everything. I loved reading his posts when I had the time.

I remember when we thought he had been killed. God, that hurt. Do you remember? We sent e-mails back and forth! That was a long time ago, though.

God bless his family, his country and him. May they live in peace. Thank you for sharing this.

Like you, Rosemary, I am so relieved to "see" Alaa again! Can you hardly wait until we can actually go give him a hug in person? YAHOOOOO!

That would be so wonderful! The only problem is that I'm never leaving the USA. Maybe we could encourage him to come for a visit? (He could bring pictures.)
